Book in to a College tour

Eligibility

Students are eligible to attend Gisborne Secondary College if the College is the closest government school to your residential address, (if measured by the shortest practicable route). You can see a map of the school zone here (or refer to the diagram as per the Find My School Website).  Families are required to provide two forms of documentation to prove their residential address, for example: rate’s notice, utility notice, driver’s licence.

New enrolments

All new enrolments to Gisborne Secondary College (excluding the year 6 into year 7 transition process) are overseen by the Assistant Principals.

School requirements and information including uniform, books, lockers, code of conduct, parent and student supports and subjects of study are discussed upon enrolment.  An enrolment pack (including our school handbook and enrolment forms) is available from the front office.  To make an enrolment enquiry please fill out the Enrolment Enquiry Form.

Transition from Year 6 to 7

At Gisborne Secondary College our transition program spans Years 6 and 7.  We follow the policy set by the Department of Education in handling the application process from primary to secondary school and support families and schools along the way to ensure the process is smooth and the experience positive for all.

More information for families about transitioning from Year 6 to 7, including the relevant Information Pack, depending on whether the student is moving from a government or non-government school, can be found at the Department of Education website.

If you have specific questions about the Transition process from Year 6 to 7 at GSC, please contact our Transition Coordinator, Simone Moore on email: simone.moore@education.vic.gov.au

Find my school website

The Find My School website visually represents all mainstream school zones in Victoria. You can find a designated neighbourhood school by a residential address search OR search using the name of a school.

The result will show:

  • the location of the school in the zone in relation to the residential address (if provided)
  • information about the school, its region and a link to the school website.

For further information you can access the Department’s Placement Policy.  Additional information including frequently asked questions can be accessed via School Zones

Going to a school outside your zone

You have the choice to seek enrolment at a school that is not your local school. Your child should be offered a place if the school has sufficient accommodation.

If the school has limited accommodation, applications are considered using the priority order of placement. The priority order of placement prioritises out-of-zone siblings and then students in order of closeness of their home to the school.

In exceptional circumstances, a student may be enrolled in a school based on compassionate grounds. Family and student privacy will be maintained when considering applications on compassionate grounds.
